It’s August but that doesn’t mean summer is over just yet! Around here, it feels like summer until the beginning of October because it stays so dang warm. But wherever you live you can make the most of the rest of the summer! This season screams freedom, fresh air, water, bare feet and friends. Here are some ways you can make the most of your summer and savor every second of it!
Go wine tasting – Find a local winery or vineyard to visit with some friends. Make an afternoon of it and then go to dinner after!
Read a new book – I’ve read so many good books this summer! Whatever interests you, find a new book and get lost in the pages!
Take a road trip – Plan a road trip with even if you go by yourself! There is something about road trips in the summer that does a soul good.
Pick some fruit – Whatever is in season where you live, go picking! You can feel so close to nature when you’re picking fresh fruit off of a tree, vine or bush. Then take it home and bake with it!
Go to the beach – Or any body of water! Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and stick your feet in the water. It’s good for the heart.
Go to a farmers market – This is one of my happiest places. Take advantage of fresh produce, jams, herbs, honey, and baked goods at your local farmers market. I can’t think of a more summery thing to do on a Saturday morning.
Pick wildflowers – Even if they are “weeds”, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Make a little arrangement for your home, it will be sure to brighten your day.
Now that I’ve shared my ideas of how to savor the last bit of summer, here is how our summer has looked so far. It’s been pretty dang spectacular.
I didn’t realize how much good food we’ve had this summer until I looked through the pictures… ANYWAY, this summer has made me realize how thankful I am for real food, wildflowers, sunshine, cool water, sunsets, Moose boy, road trips and most of all my best friend who I get to enjoy all of these wonderful things with.
So get out there and savor the rest of summer. And let me know what your favorite parts of summer have been!
